At the moment I'm using two different databases to connect my phonebook page, but when I want to use MySQL or Interbase I had to started it manually, and it is a wasted time!! So I decided to use a page to select what database to use, but I had problems to turn on MySQL 'cause it made a big loop and never show me the database on... I used this: exec("start c:\\php\\mysql\\mysql.exe /B"); And this didn't work!!! But I had have a revelation and just put a shortcut in the folder of MySQL and then point the exec() function to it... Like this: exec("start c:\\php\\mysql /B"); //mysql is the name of the shortcut And this work!!! And you can forget the neverending loop!!! I hope it works to you!!!! ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.exec.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+46283 Delete -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+46283&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+46283&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
