Ah, your pointer to the "session.save_path" saved the day.
In the W32 version of PHP 4.3.x, the default php.ini sets this value to "/tmp".
So if you install to the suggested C:\php, then you need to create c:\tmp, or change the value in
php.ini to some path that exists.
I created c:\tmp and it all worked.
