Here's the header generated from an IIS server that IE5.01 has no problem decompressing:
Server: Microsoft-IIS/4.0
Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2001 01:43:25 GMT
Content-Type: text/html
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Last-Modified: Mon, 09 Aug 1999 07:00:00 GMT
ETag: "058e6cb34e2be1:12b9"
Content-encoding: gzip
Content-length: 48582
RCTP-OCL1: 679124
If you have problems with IE de-compressing your pages, consider using a similar format (ie
lowercase content 'e' in encoding, and 'l' in length, perhaps also faking
you're an IIS server?). Anyone else got feedback on the apparently unreliable IE gzip
decompression?
