Functions to work with JPEG images exist in PHP4 RC1 as long as you have GD 1.8 or above. The
standard functions exist (imagejpeg, imagecreatefromjpeg) and you should be able to use any other GD
related functions.
One side note, since GD's internal format is 8-bit, any JPEG you use with GD will be converted
from 24-bit to 8-bit. (this is done to 24-bit PNG's, as well)
