Regarding PHP 5's new improved MySQL interface (mysqli), there is no mention of how these functions and their associated resources work with garbage collection when resources are not explicitly closed or free'd by the programmer. Are the comments on this page still true with the new mysqli functions (both object classes and procedural)? In addition, some discussion of how the new OBJECT based classes for mysqli are affected by garbage collection and how efficient they are over the procedural connections and resources would be very welcome. I imagine some additional notes on performance and memory management will speed adoption of the object method of connections over the venerable (but solid) precedural functions. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.types.resource.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+48501 Delete -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+48501&report=yes Reason: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+48501&report=yes&reason=bad+code Reason: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+48501&report=yes&reason=spam Reason: useless example -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+48501&report=yes&reason=useless+example Reason: contains commercial links -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+48501&report=yes&reason=contains+commercial+links Reason: useless note -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+48501&report=yes&reason=useless+note Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+48501&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
