Regarding persiflage2000's message posted on 01-Aug-2001:
If you are doing to cut and paste this function into your php code to handle bad MSoft characters,
do so from an IE browser running on a windows OS. This was painful for me, since I run a Linux box
and try to avoid windows when ever possible.
When I copied the code from a Mozilla browser on my Fedora C2 installation, The MSoft quotes got
"transformed", thus my function did not work anymore.
persiflage2000, your function worked great for me. I used it to manipulate text in a textarea
(often cut and pasted from Word by end users).
