I disagree with "web consultant" opinion's about PHP is only for simple free sites.
Personally, I have develop over the years very large & complex portal during the years,
including a post card site with 1.5 million hits per hour.
In my country (Mexico), PHP has been selected as prefered choice por government portal whichs offers
a vast collection of services.
ASP.net is a growing plattform but M$ always change the specs from version to version, so, usually
from one version to the next one many things won't run making maintainance plan more dificult
and expensive.
ColdFusion is a good solution, overall for its database support, but it lacks in integration with
emerging technologies and it's language it's propietary and smells too much like VB for
me.
