Note Submitter: ---- Using: setlocale('LC_CTYPE', 'fr'), or setlocale('LC_ALL', 'fr') will enable the '[[:alpha:]]', '[[:upper:]]', and '[[:lower:]]' regexps, for ereg(), eregi(), preg() and pregi() functions, as well as the isalpha() function, to match French letters (including [àâäçéèêëîïôöùûüÿ] and their uppercase versions). This also allows uppercase/lowercase conversions of these letters in strtoupper(), strtolower(), and character detection with ctype_alpha(), ctype_upper(), ctype_lower()... This support is enabled provided that PHP is compiled with locale support and the supporting host is installed with the appropriate locale libraries for that language.
