Scott, Your numbers are a little low! 32 ^ 16 is not actually the proper equation. MD5 is a 128-bit hash, so it could be written as: 2 ^ 128 OR 16 ^ 32. Your answer was 1.20892581961e+24, when in fact it is more like 3.40282366921e+38. So, add about 14 zeroes to his number, and then multiply by 3 or so, and then you'll have the proper amount. In other words, take his whole point, and then add a few more billion hard drives. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.md5.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+49484 Delete: added to the manual -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+49484&report=yes&reason=added+to+the+manual Delete: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+49484&report=yes&reason=bad+code Delete: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+49484&report=yes&reason=spam Delete: useless -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+49484&report=yes&reason=useless Delete: other reasons -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+49484&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+49484&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
