ben dash xo at dubplates dot org is incorrect about split ~ split.
If explode only deals with strings, whereas split allows regular expressions, split in PHP is
approximately equivalent to split in Perl, while explode is never equivalent to Perl's split.
In Perl, split takes from 0 to 3 arguments: PATTERN, EXPRESSION, and LIMIT. split splits the string
EXPRESSION, using the regex PATTERN, up to LIMIT times.
