Looks like the above return_bytes function has a bug in it... currently all units of measure are
handled the same. Should probably be something like this:
case 'g' :
$val *= 1024 * 1024 * 1024;
case 'm' :
$val *= 1024 * 1024;
case 'k' :
$val *= 1024;
