I use gettext to translate my homepage (php 5.0.2, apache 1.3.33, mysql 4.1). I want to use
bind_textdomain_codeset to encode the messages returned by gettext to
ISO-8859-1. But bind_textdomain_codeset does not work (it returns always in UTF-8).
I've downloaded gettext (version 0.14.2) from ftp.gnu.org.
I've read in a newsgroup that it is necessacy to configure php with libiconv. So I've
downloaded also libiconv (version 1.9.1) from ftp.gnu.org but
bind_textdomain_codeset does still return UTF-8.
My configure call is:
./configure \
--prefix=/usr/local/php \
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql \
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \
--with-gettext=/usr/local/gettext \
--with-freetype-dir=/usr/local/freetype \
--with-iconv-dir=/usr/local/libiconv
Do I need any more packages in install to get bind_textdomain_codeset to work?
I use SUSE Linux 9.1, are there any settings I must do?
My bindtextdomain function call is
setlocale(LC_MESSAGES, $Language.".ISO-8859-1");
bindtextdomain($domain, $binding);
textdomain($domain);
bind_textdomain_codeset($domain, 'ISO-8859-1');
