In my opinion there is an easier way to convert large numbers to easy readable numbers by using
strrev several times.
Whitout any use of a function this would do the same trick:
<?php
$number="1234567890";
echo strrev(substr(chunk_split(strrev($number), 3, ','), 0, -1));
?>
// 1,234,567,890
