I have windows XP pro, service pack 2
I installed apache using the windows installer apache_2.0.53-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi
I installed PHP with the installer php-4.3.10-installer.exe
I couldn't get php to work so I downloaded the zip version and replaced the php directorty
created by the installation. I edited the httpd.conf as instructed, adding the lines.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
LoadModule php4_module "C:/PHP/php4apache2.dll"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
# For PHP 5 do something like this:
LoadModule php5_module "C:/PHP/php5apache2.dll"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
# configure the path to php.ini
PHPIniDir "C:/PHP/"
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
now when I try to restart the apache service I get:
"Windows could not start the Apache2 on Local Computer. For more information, review the System
Event Log. If this is a non-microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to
service-specific error code 1"
I check the event log, no help
"The Apache2 service terminated with service-specific error 1 (0x1)."
I reedit the httpd.conf to comment out the lines referring to dll paths, the error does not repeat
itself and the service starts, no php. the dlls in question are in the places they are linked to,
but they are causeing the service to crash for some reason. I've never done this successfully
before, any ideas?
