You can check for a function if it is defined by using
bool function_exists ( string function_name )
This comes in handy, especially when having to use different implementations depending on the OS you
use (e.g. check_dnsrr is not defined on Windows). May also be used to check whether a conditionally
defined function has been
defined (as described above).
