After doing a little research (beleive it or not, it sometimes works better than posting and hoping
someone'll solve your problems for ya) I realized that i only have libxml 1.8.7 (hurray for up
to date freebsd ports) so that explains the childs thing, in 2.x it's children, and it seems
that the domxml stuff is tailored for 2.x. So, that seems to fix it. Get 2.x if you're having
problems.
