note 10274 rejected and deleted from Image functions by zak

First i'm using conectiva linux 5.1 I install the abria package from abriaSOFT (abriasoft.com) that comes with php 3.0.16 with gd support, apache 1.3.12 and mysql. This package is a RPM file, so, i can't configure manualy. I'm using Gd-1.3-3, and i already modify the php3.ini (the extensions) but i still get CALL TO UNSUPPORTED OR UNDEFINED FUNCTION imageGIF() i put some wrong codes on php3.ini but i think the php is not reading that file. where this file has to be ? if i install the latest version of php (4.04) with gd 1.8.3, this will work ?? if you sugest some versions to install what would be ? php 3 or 4 ? gd 1.3/1.6 or 1.8 ? i don't care with the types of image (PNG,GIF,JPG). i only want to see PHP create and show a picture !!! thanks, sorry my bad english.
