Actually, for the purpose of email parsing, it does not make sense to limit the TLD to between 2 and 6 characters. The TLD is limited just as any other domain part. While it may not be conceivably likely, it is still better to write a function that never has to change. An example of a valid TLD over 6 characters, right off the top of my head, is localdomain. It is even fairly likely that an organization might name their servers, for example, sillystuff.localdomain. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.preg-match.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+54195 Delete: added to the manual -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+54195&report=yes&reason=added+to+the+manual Delete: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+54195&report=yes&reason=bad+code Delete: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+54195&report=yes&reason=spam Delete: useless -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+54195&report=yes&reason=useless Delete: non-english -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+54195&report=yes&reason=non-english Delete: other reasons -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+54195&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+54195&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
