System: gentoo 2005.0, apache2, php4.4.0, oracle instantclient (+ sqlplus)
I set up oracle enviroment and *.ora files.
I launch sqlplus and connect to the database (located somewhere else in our LAN). Works.
I write down a skeleton connection script and launch it with CLI php (on a plain bash). Works.
I launch apache2 -D PHP4 -X and try that very script on a web page. Works.
I SIGTERM the former apache2 and start a proper apache2 service. I try that same script. Segfault
after segfault.
I spent two days trying to understand why.
And then I opened /etc/init.d/apache2.
And I saw an "env -i" right before the start of the main apache executable file.
Eradicated that, now it works (/seems to work/) flawlessly.
I hope you can avoid wasting two days of your life chasing a ghost...
