Having hunted around the manual, I've not found a clear statement of what makes a type "scalar" (e.g. if some future version of the language introduces a new kind of type, what criterion will decide if it's "scalar"? - that goes beyond just listing what's scalar in the current version.) In other lanuages, it means "has ordering operators" - i.e. "less than" and friends. It (-:currently:-) appears to have the same meaning in PHP. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.is-scalar.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+55813 Delete: added to the manual -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55813&report=yes&reason=added+to+the+manual Delete: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55813&report=yes&reason=bad+code Delete: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55813&report=yes&reason=spam Delete: useless -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55813&report=yes&reason=useless Delete: non-english -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55813&report=yes&reason=non-english Delete: other reasons -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55813&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+55813&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
