After trying everything mentioned below with no success I finally got my .php files to be recognized. Using IIS 6.0 and PHP 5.03 I added IUSR permissions, added PHPRC to my Web extensions, updated my path to the PHP folder and tested with php /i at my Command Prompt. All of this wqas successful but I still got 404 errors. Finally I kept diggin thru the IIS help files and came across mapping and extension i.e. files extensions such as .php !! Added that, pointed it to the correct .dll and stopped then restarted IIS. Eureka!
