If you're getting the "Cannot find php_xxxx.dll" (where xxxx is the database program
name) when starting Apache or IIS under Windows XP then you should copy both the php_xxxx.dll file
and any associated libxxxx.dll files (ie for MySQL you need to copy php_mysql.dll and libmysql.dll)
into your Windows\System32 and/or Windows\System directories. It appears that XP (possibly a feature
of SP2) limits use of DLLs outside the Windows\System32 directory. This does not negate setting the
path for extension_dir in the php.ini file.
Copying those files fixed my problem using MySQL 4.0.26, Apache 2.0.54, and PHP 5.0.5 under XP Home
SP2.
