this was a difficult scripting problem i personally had when i began programming php:
make sure you novice php'ers correctly close any nesting statements you have! sometimes in
complicated scripting, the only error message is something like: parse error on line 224 in blah.php
and when you look at line 224, its the php closing ?> tag. this can be looked at as improper
closing of nested functions, conditional statements, anywhere the curly brackets ( { & }) are
used.
