The problem with the old mysql extension (php_mysql.dll) and PHP5 is that it requires libmysql.dll,
which resides in the php root folder and can't be found by the extension.
One possibility is to add the php folder to the system variable path (and thus make all applications
look for dlls in there).
Another and IMHO more intuitive and easy solution is to simply copy the libmysql.dll from your php
folder to the windows directory (C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT). Since it's a standard place to look
for dlls, the mysql extension will be able to find the libmysql.dll there. This doesn't require
a reboot either.
