I wasn't able to find any explanation on this behavior, so i'm posting results of my trial-and-error work. Setup: Apache2, PHP5, Mysql on Windows XP Pro. Symptoms: extensions do not get loaded. I tried to follow the manual, but no matter what changes i made to C:\windows\php.ini, none of them would be seen in phpinfo() - the extension directory would still refer to C:\php5 (nonexistent in my case, since i am using C:\php), despite the fact that phpinfo was referring to C:\windows loocation for php.ini Solution: Moved php.ini from C:\windows to C:\php and it got loaded. I hope this helps others. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.windows.manual.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+58180 Delete: added to the manual -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes&reason=added+to+the+manual Delete: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes&reason=bad+code Delete: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes&reason=spam Delete: useless -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes&reason=useless Delete: non-english -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes&reason=non-english Delete: already in docs -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes&reason=already+in+docs Delete: other reasons -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+58180&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+58180&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
