Why have geeks "hijacked" PHP for Mac OS? Why is every explanation on how to get PHP up and running for Mac OS so incredibly jargon laden? Whom will for example, with no prior experience in other than stuff like html and maybe javascript, be able to understand what the following means: "To build on MacOS X 10.3.5 set the environment variable CFLAGS in the following way (depending on your shell)" What the H, are "CFLAGS"? For crying out loud many people, including those who want to create PHP themselves, do not even know what a "shell" is. Yet everything is presumed to be common knowledge regarding Unix related technology. Common, for god's sake, nowhere on the internet is there a clear, easy-to-understand php-installation tutorial for BEGINNERS. They're all PACKED with jargon, cryptic hints (like "depending on your shell", or "type gzz-apsri@@43klsd***", just where? Type where?), as well as a pressumption that everyone who wants to use PHP is super savy with the Terminal, which is quiet frankly ridiculous for the reason that most Mac users don't ever use the Terminal. Someone's migrating from mere client-side to PHP will most likely have no clue what either "shell" means or what various Unix commands mean, or even are. And that's precisely the reason for why these type of instructions, since many beginners will depend on them, need to be soft on technical jargon and not take so much for granted that only seasoned geeks will be using PHP on Mac. Of course geeks are cool, but as far as PHP installation for Mac OS goes, there's a vacuum for beginners regarding clear, unambiguous instructions. Please bear it in mind next time, somebody.
