Note Submitter: mrivaud-kran at altern dot org ---- I encounter the same intermittent connection problem (cf dave at phantomfish 's note), with MsSQL Server 2000 (not MSDE) : /* Config */ OS : Windows 2003 Server WebServer : IIS 6 PHP : 5.0.4 Database : MsSQL Server 2000 SP3 /* Remarks */ - All DLLs are up to date (ntwdlib.dll, php_mssql), - Network connections, SQL Client configs (TCP/IP, aliases, named-pipes) have been checked, - PHP can connect to the database without issue with ODBC functions and ADODB object, - There is NO clue of any connection error in the event manager - Other servers with same configuration, same DLLs version work perfectly - Strangest of all : the connection was Ok at the beginning, and there has not been any config modification (as far as I know - I was not in charge of this server) => So it seems that mssql_connect problem can occur when connecting to an MsSQL Server 2000 and not only when connecting to an MSDE. => It may not be caused by an obsolete ntwdlib. => It may be related to some obscure MsSQL configuration option, or security policy. /* More */ As ODBC neither ADODB are a solution (in my case), I *will* have to find the causes of this problem. I will consequently post the solution as soon as possible.
