In the second real line stream_filter_append($fp, "string.rot13", STREAM_FILTER_WRITE); the third parameter should be enclosed in some kind of quote like so stream_filter_append($fp, "string.rot13", 'STREAM_FILTER_WRITE'); or stream_filter_append($fp, "string.rot13", "STREAM_FILTER_WRITE"); unless it has allready been defined as a constant in your script the janitor kiko
