Because the change shall hurt so that people upgrade. As you noted, the
wrapper is trivally written, and you have the choice of either doing the
right thing and upgrade to stay on the main path, or write and maintain the
wrapper yourself. As soon as I provide that wrapper, people will lean back
and keep their old code (Actually, you should not have been using the PHP
namespace in the first place.:-)
