This is missing the point: the changelog section contains the previous
releases. There are not two consecutive releases in there. I don't even know
how the installer would handle that. It probably would throw a fit.

I really disagree with the "release notes only for a given release"
business. If I release a series of betas before going stable, should the
stable release mention the changes? Absolutely! Because the stable users
won't have any idea of which changes were made. For users installing all the
betas, that should not be a problem.

Yes, I know you have. And I guess it was my fault that I didn't catch the
state problem. By the way, the state in the name must also be reflected in
the state tag. So I'm not exactly sure what's being complained about.
