Absolutely, using "object blah" just slows down parsing. In addition, phpDocumentor recognizes "|" as a type separator, and will even hyperlink to the docs of classes used so if you have a local parse of "PEAR_Error|boolean" it would link to the docs for PEAR_Error Greg
