It is still an 'alpha' / pre 1.0.0 release :P ie - BC breaks for all is OK in the rule book. I know it'd be a bit of shock and I imagine it's fairly widely used - so I'm not about to push a release out just at this particular moment; at least not until the pear packages that depend on it are either happy with exceptions or have an appropriate max version set.
