Hi,
I´ve tried to update my PEAR installation that comes with PHP 4.2.3.
The script /usr/local/bin/pear did download the tgz and updated a couple
of things - it did not update the installer script "pear" itself though.
The 'old' script relied on a function getoptions() which is not available
in the new PEAR version so I have basically made it impossible to use
the installer for any further upgrades/installations by upgrading.
I am running a FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE system. Apache and PHP were installed from
the ports collection.
During the PEAR upgrade I noticed that the install path to the new installation
script outputted as '/usr/local/bin///pear' (or similar). I believe there
is something wrong with the path detection.
I was able to fix this problem by taking 'pear.in' out of the 1.0b1 tgz
file, replacing the wildcards '@something@' by values making sense and
moving this to '/usr/local/bin/pear'.
I don´t know what goes wrong during installation but this caused me some
headache.
Any fix in sight?
Emre
