Cannot build PECL/apd on Solaris 2.8

First I tried the "pear build package.xml" route, and it seemed like everything went fine, except that nothing was really built. No output written to apd.la collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: [apd.la] Error 1 (ignored) mode=install cp ./apd.la /home/jesusmc/devel/php/pear/PECL/apd/modules cp: cannot access ./apd.la make: [/home/jesusmc/devel/php/pear/PECL/apd/modules/apd.la] Error 2 (ignored) Hmm, seems like my gcc (Solaris 8, version 3.0.2, btw) does not grok those '-prefer-pic' and '-rpath' options in the Makefile. If I used -fPIC and -R instead, it does not give the same error but fails while linking. I know I am missing something trivial, but I cannot think what it is at the moment. Ideas? ===== --- Jesus M.
