I'd like to propose a new package, and I'm looking for the right name to give it, it's a small class for managing user preferences in an application, with basic session based caching of the values, and the ability to get default values if the user wants it to. There's a first version of the package (currently installs to /Auth/preferences.php, with a class name of preference_manager (I know, it's 3:28am!)) at http://ostrich.godaintpants.co.uk/pear/Preference_Manager-0.1.tgz if you want to take a look. Hi Jon, There is definitely a need for a class like this. Have you looked at the PEAR_Config class? I would like to extend it to handle containers and per-package configuration, or maybe even merging it with the Config class. - Stig I'm not sure about using the Config class for this, as the class is intended to be lightweight, to fit the Auth class, and just fulfilling it's one specific purpose, rather than being a class to cover a wide variety of functions... I think the only feature that I really want to add to this is the possibility of using something along the lines of Cache_Lite to provide more solid pref caching than the current session based cache.
