Thanks to all who have submitted comments, templates, fixes, and engaged in
discourse/debate about the future of phpDocumentor. We appreciate
everything thrown at us!
The progress towards 1.2 has accelerated. Work of moving all the
HTMLdefaultConverter templates to a new Smarty-based HTMLframesConverter has
nearly completed. So far, the only templates not converted are the DOM
templates (which will be simple) and 1 user-submitted template. default,
l0l33t, phpdoc.de, phphtmllib and a new template submitted from France based
on those included with PHPEdit (permission pending).
The HTMLdefaultConverter is officially deprecated, no more work will be
added to this converter, as the HTMLframesConverter has the same output with
more flexible templates.
Features added to the core since the last update include line numbers for
all documented elements, so now cross-referencing generated docs and source
code will be easier. In addition, the copying of stylesheets/image files in
the HTML converters has broadened, and now all elements in a media/
subdirectory are copied to the destination.
Next on the plate is the peardoc2 templates for the XML DocBook converter.
These are nearly finished (only need to add in templates for global
variables, defines, and includes), and need testing/debugging/reformatting
as necessary.
After this, we will begin work on parsing tutorials in docbook format, and
allowing linking to these tutorials from the API documentation. Any ideas
and thoughts about what we should think about to make tutorial parsing a
good thing are appreciated.
Take care,
Greg Beaver
