Hi, well the exact roadmap or way this will happen has not been decided, but at a certain point it is planned that MDB takes the place of DB (which cannot happen until enough drivers have been ported to MDB). There is no date set for this yet of course. And as the specifics haven’t been worked out yet there isn't much I can say beyond that we will of course ensure that this will not turn into a BC hell. That said: You can use MDB through the pear wrapper quite easily if you use DB today. Actually you will only have to do minor modifications to your current code to use the native MDB methods (like replace all instances of 'DB' to 'MDB' and dealing with the fact that in MDB you don’t get a result object but a result resource).
