Hi all,
Work has slowed a bit, due to some serious time commitment needed to play
concerts in my quartet.
However, some major progress has been made on two fronts. Many users have
been trying phpDocumentor and reporting bugs in 1.2.0. This is great, and
will be very helpful in making beta 3 work properly. We still have no
resolution, and have had no time to investigate the problems some people
have had opening the tarred archive, if anyone does figure out what is going
on before we do, please let us know so we can fix it (if the problem is
indeed in the archive).
The second point of progress has been in regards to the implementation of
{@source}, @filesource, and @example tags. I've just finished the
groundwork on a parser that will both highlight source at the token level
and add linking to documentation from the source, phpxref style. This is
similar to Alan's excellent PHPCodeDoc tool, and differs in that it does not
use the default colors from php.ini for highlighting, supports highlighting
of individual DocBlock elements with different colors, and allows
highlighted output in HTML and PDF outputs. Since peardoc2 does its own
highlighting, there is no highlighting output for the XML:DocBook:peardoc2
converter/template. Known issues include bizarre handling of whitespace at
the end of DocBlocks, but this doesn't affect the logic, fortunately.
There has been small progress made in other areas, and a few bugfixes since
the release of 1.2.0beta2. I will be implementing the @category tag for
peardoc2 output, as decided in the pear.doc list, and attempting to come up
with a standard way to pass command-line values to converters, to solve
Christian Dickmann's problems with his excellent HTML:Smarty:PEAR template.
Take care,
Greg Beaver
