That part is unnecessary. Non-numeric values will evaluated to zero,
so a "greater than zero" test will filter those values out.
I've just committed a fix for this problem:

If someone (Jeff?) can verify that it works as advertised, I'll
release a new version of the Net_SMTP package with the fix.
