Hi,
the recent threads are highlighting this more and more.
We need to think about the future. I know that I am insanely busy at
work atm and I have checked back with Stig who is in the same position
currently. However even though I think we need to make some important
decisions as to how PEAR is supposed to resolve the recent causes for
confusion and flames, we shouldn't hurry any decisions.
I therefore propose that everybody takes the time and carefully notes
what he wants PEAR to be and how he expects PEAR to accomplish this. I
think it would be most beneficial if we do this in private as I fear
that this thread could lead to premature decision making.
The time for endless threads will come no doubt.
But before I would think it would be the best of everybody prepared a
statement in which she/he (yeah I know I am kidding myself) outlines his
views on the above mentioned issues. This could be a good basis for
future discussion. This way people with little time to follow threads
could also influence the discussion (at the beginning at least).
I the best would of course for this to end in a round table with as many
PEAR people present as possible (with the rest joining in via IRC). But
I don't know what event could serve for that purpose. I fear the
Amsterdam PHP con will not draw enough PEAR devs.
Until then we need to make even more sure that people don't get
disgruntled with PEAR. So please keep sarcasm to a minimum and interpret
other peoples comments in good faith.
Regards,
Lukas Smith
