Please stop this.
Every vital community has political problems. The successful ones don't let
them get in the way of a good thing. The unsuccessful ones just argue about
how big their **** are.
Stop using the George W. school of diplomacy. It doesn't work.
Pierre:
Nobody is an angel, or perfect coder. Perhaps some things can be integrated
by you from his source without a patch? This way, you can preserve the BC
you want, and integrate the improvements. Or, give Alexey cvs access to
apply the patches directly. You can always revert if the code is bad, and
cancel cvs access if it's REALLY bad :).
Alexey:
If your work is so grand, then release it as a sourceforge project,
publicize the crap out of it, and people will use it. Who cares whether
it's associated with some random piece of fruit or not. If you want
everyone to think your only reason for persisting with this as a PEAR
project is extreme hubris, please carry on.
Both of you:
This argument is incredibly attractive and enticing, and in fact, deserving
of a huge thread.
No, really, it is, I'm not being sarcastic.
