Why not just save the bandwidth and not even send it to those that are
not interested?
(Think of aggregate bandwidth savings).

How many PEAR authors know about writing php extensions? Surely they
will be happier to not see all those mysterious lines of C code being
committed?
People that are interested in the commits will subscribe to the list;
its quite simple. I'm on the verge of unsubscribing atm because of the
number of single-file 2-line commits spamming my mailboxes (again, no
disrespect to any of the pear authors).
Surely it is more important to keep core developers interested in the
CVS than it is for script authors to keep their eyes on the C
extensions? Particularly as we move all extensions into PECL.
As the number of PEAR and PECL packages increase, so will the number of
people screaming for less mail :/
