I suppose that a lot of people are a bit afraid that the prepare/execute
stuff will steal some performance, especially with DBMS that don't
support them natively, e.g. MySQL. Actually I haven't seen/made any
benchmarks on this yet. Do you have some numbers available?
Apart from the performance issue, I guess that using the prepare/execute
syntax is often just "typing overhead" for people.
