1. there's a syntax error in the script at http://go-pear.org/
2. to detect cgi, you have to do substr(php_sapi_name(),0,3)=='cgi' since cgi built with fastcgi support will have the sapi name cgi-fcgi
after fixing this, it works, but the pear command is still not correctly installed.
