pearweb needs cvs?

Hello All, I am setting up a private pear server for a project of mine and am having a problem figuring out exactly how pearweb handles the files. I have a working pearweb interface as well as the pear installer on my system. Do I need to get php4/pear from the CVS and set up pearweb to read from this? What about file permissions? Can't I just point pearweb (PEAR_CVS_REPO_DIR, PEAR_TARBALL_DIR - is there more info somewhere on these constants? (relative, absolute, etc)) to my existing pear directory (ie: /usr/share/pear)? Please let me know if this question is redundent (couldn't find anything in archives). Thanks, Jacob
