As part of the progress towards making flexy a ASP.NET type templating engine in Flexy, I've been looking at a replacement for Quickforms (both lighter, less featured, and more focused on rendering, rather than intepreting).
The result is a modified version of HTML_Common, which provides
- basic rendering in an XML tree type manner (eg. children as well)
- a noClose tag toHtml (for form head).
- making public attribute/children elements
- an override option (to replace the whole element with a string
- a setValue to handle most common form element types
- a setOption to handle select
- removal of methods that deal with simple setting / getting.
- merge Element - to merge 2 HTML_Elements
- support for <input type="xxx" checked> (the checked with no value)
It's basically a simplifed version of HTML_Select/Common, and XML_Tree, but designed to be lightweight, and follow a similar API..
The code is at.

Is there any interest in putting this a seperate package in PEAR, otherwise it will probably end up as HTML_Template_Flexy_Element
Regards
Alan
