The installation of dependencies might be easier than the uninstall, but, we already have the '--nodeps' option, so maybe the error msg should just change to something like: "... Cannot uninstall Plink_Plonk The following packages depend on this package: Foo_Bar Boing_Boom If you know what you are doing, use: pear uninstall --nodeps Plink_Plonk otherwise uninstall the other packages first. ..." Basically, let the user decide what she wants to do and no second guess. I would love to be able to install the basic phpDocumentor (perhaps containing the default converter), and then add the other converters and cool bits as needed. BTW, we are talking about phpDocumentor 2.0, which is under development (IIRC), so there is still time for implementing the needed support framework (if any is needed), in the PEAR package manager and related pieces.
