I'd like to put the Horde classes mentioned above into the PEAR namespace.
- VFS has been discussed before. It provides a pretty robust API for storing
files in a filesystem, database, etc., etc. There are a lot of different
drivers that could be added to it - MDB, webdav, dba, sqlite, etc - that I'd
love to get help from the PEAR community in doing. I'm in the process right now
of making sure that the code has no dependancies on Horde (there's going to be
one or two calls that will check for Horde, just to avoid losing too much
functionality for Horde users, but this will *not* affect those who want to use
it independantly). The package name will be VFS; I'd propose that it be a
top-level package.
- XML_SVG provides a set of classes to help write/programmatically create SVG
images (thus it differs from XML_svg2image, etc.). It's also been requested by
someone at least once. It'd live in the XML namespace - just one file,
XML/SVG.php.
The code for both is available from http://cvs.horde.org/cvs.php/horde/lib.
They'd stay in Horde CVS; I'll happily give accounts to anyone who wants to
heavily help maintain them, and releases will be uploaded to pear.php.net.
Depending on how this goes, I'd like to make more Horde classes independant and
contribute them to the appropriate parts of the PEAR tree. Any requests?
Comments, votes, etc.?
Thanks,
-chuck

The alligators were there, too, in a bathtub inside the house.
