I've answered my own question: On the PEAR website, Net_Ping is using version 1.8 from CVS. OS detection was added later, and now it's version 1.24 on CVS. Why wasn't it repackaged since then? As with "pear install" mechanism, does it take the packaged version or the latest via CVS? Olivier
