Well, it's kind of a FAQ (how can i check the online status of XXX) in irc channels, so i think the package would fit in PEAR - however, re-implementing it in ICQ-communication might not be a very good idea - at least it shouldn't replace your methods, because a) it takes some time to connect to ICQ b) only one connection per UIN at a time - that can be nasty if the class is used in a web environment and pages get requested by multiple users at the same time. I once tried implementing the ICQ protocol in PHP, but stopped because i wanted to use it in the web and figured out there were no good ways to circumvent b)... unless you have the possibility to run the script communicating with ICQ as a daemon answering requests from the other scripts. -- Regards, Stefan Walk <swalk@prp0.prp.physik.tu-darmstadt.de>
